Court actions are time-consuming, emotionally-draining and expensive. When mediation and/or arbitration are appropriate, they can provide a better way of settling matrimonial disputes and other matters.
Mediation involves a chosen mediator assisting parties to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution to their differences. Arbitration involves a chosen arbitrator (or arbitrators) hearing both sides and coming to a decision.
Care must be taken not to build into mediation and/or arbitration many of the procedures built into litigation, or mediation and arbitration will end up just as time-consuming and costly as the litigation process you are trying to avoid.
I believe in mediation and arbitration and have professional development certificates in Family Mediation and Advanced Mediation Skills.
I can be retained as counsel by an individual party or I can be retained as the mediator and/or arbitrator.
