For the last twelve years I have been an elected bencher (governor) of the Law Society. In the performance of my bencher duties I have been a member of the Professional Regulation Committee, have heard discipline matters as a single bencher, have chaired and sat as a member of three-bencher discipline panels, and have participated at Discipline Convocations.
As a bencher I have taken a special interest in discipline. In addition, I have organized and chaired a Canadian Bar Association Ontario Branch (CBAO) General Practice Section programme on the discipline process, and have spoken at a joint meeting of the CBAO Civil Litigation and General Practice Sections on the topic of discipline. As a columnist for the Law Times I have written about discipline cases and the discipline process.
There is a shortage of good discipline counsel. When my term as an elected bencher concludes, I intend to represent lawyers who face charges of professional misconduct or conduct unbecoming.
I accept private retainers to represent other professionals before their respective governing bodies.
I am experienced and respected, provide high quality service, and give personal attention to the matters I accept.
